While standards of beauty fluctuate from generation to generation, the relative size and shape of the human nose in proportion to other facial features has remained a constant indicator of beauty. The familiar saying, “It’s as clear as the nose on your face.” certainly highlights the importance of the nose as the focal point in accessing the appearance of the human face.

However, all surgery has the risk of complications or undesirable outcomes, and you can reduce those risks by closely following your surgeon’s pre- and post-op instructions.  Avoiding alcohol and caffeine and maintaining a balanced diet and exercise program prior to surgery and limiting certain activities until the healing process is complete will result in the most successful and satisfying results.

Whether reasonable or not, the profound link between self-esteem and appearance is also as “obvious as the nose on your face,” and if nose reshaping can accomplish facial harmony, the end result for the patient will be an improved self-image and an increase in inner confidence.
