Breast Augmentation, also known as Breast Enlargement or Augmentation Mammoplasty, is a very popular surgical procedure to alter the overall size and shape of a woman’s breasts. Breast augmentation surgery generally is performed to increase the size of small breasts, correct a loss of breast volume following pregnancy, balance uneven breasts, or as a reconstructive procedure following a mastectomy or other breast surgery.
A breast augmentation procedure requires the insertion of a breast implant either behind the breast tissue or under the pectoral muscle, causing the natural breast tissue to be pushed forward and make the breast appear fuller.
