How To Perform A Self Breast Examination

How to perform a self breast examination?
Make sure you (or the important woman in your life) perform a self examination once a month and have a mammogram as recommended for your age.

It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

We’ve received many questions regarding if having breast implants affects having a mammogram?

So here’s the answer:

A woman with breast implants should follow the same breast-care guidelines as a woman without implants. That is, self-examination each month and
mammograms at the standard age intervals (i.e., once at age 35 then every year after the age of 40). If you have implants, you should tell your technician because your mammogram must be handled in a special way in order to see your breast tissue effectively. Mammograms on women with breast implants require extra shots and a different technique, which may take the radiologist longer to read. However, the benefit of the mammogram in finding cancer far outweigh these minor inconveniences.
