Frequently Asked Rhinoplasty Questions
There is a bump/ hump on my nose, how can it be removed?
Usually when patients are talking about a hump or bump on their nose, they are referring to their nasal bridge not having a smooth angle or contour. The nasal bridge is the section of your nose that aids in creating the profile that is seen from a side view of your nose. Dorsum is the name that plastic surgeons use to refer to the nasal bridge, and dorsal hump is the name that is used to refer to the hump on the nose. In order to decrease the size of the hump, a surgical instrument called a rasp is used to smooth down and shave off the excess bone causing the hump. Your nasal skin will easily adapt to the new contour and the result will be a beautifully defined nose and profile.
Make sure to view Dr. Salzhauer’s Before and After photographs on his Online Gallery for examples of nose jobs where the bump was removed.
