American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Reports – Part 3 of 4
Male Verses Female Plastic Surgery Procedures
Of the total number of surgeries performed, women accounted for almost 8.4 million, 91% of the total (You go girls!). The number of cosmetic procedures for women increased over 208% from 1997. The top five surgical procedures for women were: breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tuck, eyelid surgery, and breast lift.
Men accounted for 800,000 cosmetic procedures, 9% of the total. The number of cosmetic procedures for men increased over 121% from 1997. Although the amount has increased, I am still shocked to see that so few men undergo plastic surgery. The top five surgical procedures for men were: liposuction, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, breast reduction to treat enlarged male breast, and facelift.
